Building a Legacy of Care: the Future of Shamrock

Coming soon—the largest independently owned veterinary practice in Lake County, designed intentionally from the ground up for the companions you love.

For nearly forty years, Shamrock Animal Hospital has been more than just a place for medicine. Founded by Dr. Greg and Donna Shamrock in 1988, this practice was built on a foundation of relationships, families, and deeply rooted trust. When we took over the mantle from them in 2016, our mission was to honor that incredible legacy while continuing to elevate the care we provide.

In 2016, we met Dr. Greg and Donna Shamrock, who were looking to pass their beloved family-owned practice to someone who would protect its legacy. We took a leap of faith, quit our jobs, and invested everything into Shamrock. While medicine and technology have evolved beautifully over the last 30 years—transitioning from hand-dipping X-ray film to simply pressing a button—our core philosophy has never changed.

We operate on three simple pillars: Do great work, have fun, and give back.” – Jeff & Raquel Fagan, Owners

Over the years, we have had the profound privilege of watching your puppies grow old, celebrating healthy visits, and standing beside you during some of the most difficult days of your lives.

As Lake County grows, our community needs more high-quality veterinary care. We quickly realized that the location that helped us build our dreams could no longer support our vision for the future.

That is why we are embarking on our biggest mission yet: building a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art veterinary facility in Eustis. This project is about so much more than a new building—it is about preserving independent veterinary medicine, investing heavily in the community we love, and ensuring Lake County families have access to world-class care for decades to come.

A First Look Inside

Browse the architectural renderings and take a virtual flythrough tour of our future home, designed in partnership with Animal Arts, North America’s leading architecture firm specializing exclusively in animal wellness spaces.

We didn’t want a cold, clinical, or intimidating environment. We designed a space that feels like arriving somewhere familiar—a true home away from home where your pets feel safe and you feel completely welcome.

To keep your pets calm and stress-free, the new facility features completely separate lobbies, exam rooms, and treatment spaces for dogs and cats. From the moment your cat walks through the door, they will never have to cross paths or interface with a dog.

Saying goodbye is the hardest part of loving a pet. We are building a dedicated, private comfort room designed to feel like a peaceful living room, ensuring you can say your goodbyes in a warm, quiet, and deeply respectful space.

With an expanded footprint and additional exam rooms, we are significantly reducing wait times so we can get you and your pet out of the lobby and into a care space faster.

At the heart of our practice is our staff. The new layout features an expanded, peaceful break room where our team can decompress and rest, because taking care of our people allows them to give 100% of their hearts to your pets.

Honoring a Lake County Legacy

Our Ultimate Goal: More Birthdays

At the end of the day, what we are trying to do is incredibly simple: help pets live their healthiest lives, help families create meaningful memories that span generations, and give our community as much time as possible with the companions they love.

The most important thing for me—and everyone who enters veterinary medicine—is that we want pets to have more birthdays. That’s the bottom line. That’s what it’s all about.” — Dr. Raquel Fagan

Life’s just better when done with pets. Thank you, Lake County, for trusting us with your furry family members. We can’t wait to welcome you to the future of Shamrock and help your pets celebrate many more birthdays to come.
